Homes built decades ago were never wired for the number of devices and appliances we run today. If you're relying on double adaptors and power boards trailing across the floor, you're not alone, but it's both inconvenient and a safety concern. Adding proper power points is a simple fix that makes daily life easier.

Power boards aren't a long term answer

Double adaptors and cheap power boards are an easy stopgap, but overloading a single outlet this way generates heat and increases fire risk, especially with high draw appliances. If you've got power boards feeding power boards, that's a clear sign the room needs more outlets, wired properly onto the circuit.

Where people usually need more points

The spots I most often get asked to add power points in established homes:

  • Kitchen benches, for the growing number of appliances
  • Home offices, where one outlet no longer cuts it
  • Bedrooms, for charging and bedside devices
  • Outdoor and entertaining areas, with weatherproof outlets
  • The garage or shed, for tools and equipment

Placement is worth thinking about

The best time to plan power point placement is before the work starts. I usually walk through the space with you to work out exactly where outlets make sense for how you actually use the room, so you're not left reaching for an extension lead again six months later.

Neat cabling in an established home

Adding outlets in an existing home means running new cabling through wall cavities and the ceiling space. Doing this cleanly, with minimal wall damage and tidy runs, is where experience with older properties really counts. The goal is outlets exactly where you need them, with as little disruption to your home as possible.

Tired of chasing outlets?

If your home never seems to have a power point where you need one, I can add them properly, wired onto the circuit and placed to suit how you live. Fixed pricing upfront, tidy work, and no more trailing power boards.
