This job started with an after hours emergency callout after the homeowner suddenly lost power to majority of the property.

After investigating the switchboard, I found a hot joint that had burnt out the safety switch and caused damage to the surrounding cabling. The heat had become so severe that it had started to burn parts of the switchboard and melted parts of the safety switch. It's a good reminder that small electrical issues can quickly turn into much bigger problems if they're left too long.

Fortunately, I had enough switchgear in the van to replace the damaged circuits and get all the power restored the same afternoon.

The switchboard was in an awkward location with very limited access, so while behind the cover might not be something you'd frame in your living room, the repair is safe, compliant and got the customer back up and running. The switchboard is also planned to be relocated in the future, which will make any future maintenance or upgrades much easier.
