This job was at a chemist in Brahma Lodge where the client wanted additional power points installed for their point of sale equipment. Their existing setup had multiple devices running from the same circuit, so if that circuit tripped they would lose all of their registers at once.

To minimise disruption to the business, the work was carried out outside of normal trading hours so the store did not need to close during the installation.

We installed three new power points, with two of them dedicated to splitting the point of sale equipment across separate circuits. This way, if a circuit ever trips, the entire checkout system will not go down at the same time.

While carrying out the work we also investigated an ongoing issue where circuits would trip during wet weather. We discovered that a brick vent above the switchboard had been removed previously to allow cables to pass through and was never replaced, which was allowing rainwater to enter the board.

During the job we also found some non compliant wiring that had been previously installed. This was corrected, and the existing final sub circuits were upgraded to RCBO protection as the devices installed in the board were part of a recalled product range.
